Game Day Cancellations: Policy & Process
Player safety is our primary consideration when deciding whether to cancel netball rounds. We aim to play whenever possible, provided the conditions are safe for all participants.
Decisions are made by designated officials tailored to each age group:
Years 5–8: A committee of two NSN members.
Years 3–4: Managed independently by the Year 3 & 4 Coordinator.
Years 1-2: Managed independently by the Year 1 & 2 Coordinator.
Key Policies
Safety First: Cancellations only occur when weather is severe enough to pose a risk, even considering that players should be wearing school-registered thermal gear.
Independent Decisions: Years 1-4 decisions are handled separately from the morning rounds, as younger players are more affected by the cold and conditions can shift between morning and afternoon.
Finality: Once a cancellation notice is issued, that decision is final for all affected rounds in that specific age group.
How to Check for Cancellations
When a round is cancelled, we will immediately update the following channels:
Official Website: A notice will be posted on the NSN homepage.
Social Media: Updates will be shared on the NSN Facebook page.
WhatsApp: An alert will be sent through the NSN Community announcement channel. Your school delegate is automatically part of this channel.
Note to Teams: Coaches are responsible for ensuring this information is shared with their players and parents as soon as the official notice is posted.
