Northern Suburbs Netball – Fair Play Ribbon Initiative

Overview
Northern Suburbs Netball is introducing a Fair Play Ribbon initiative for the 2026 season. This initiative is designed to promote positive behaviour, sportsmanship, and stronger connections between participating schools.

How It Works

  • ​​​​​​​Each school will receive a supply of Fair Play ribbons at the beginning of the season.
  • At the conclusion of each game, teams will nominate one player from the opposing team who has demonstrated outstanding fair play.
  • The ribbon is then presented to that player as recognition of their behaviour on and off the court, presentation takes place when the teams get together for their end of game cheers for each other, supporters, and umpires
  • Please make presentation swiftly and move off the court for the next round

What We Mean by Fair Play
Fair Play goes beyond simply following the rules. It includes:

  • Respect for teammates, opponents, umpires, and coaches
  • Positive communication and encouragement
  • Honesty and integrity during play
  • Inclusiveness and support for all players
  • Demonstrating a great attitude, regardless of the game outcome

Purpose of the Initiative
The Fair Play Ribbon system aims to:

  • Strengthen relationships between schools
  • Reinforce the values of respect and sportsmanship
  • Recognise and celebrate positive, inclusive behaviour
  • Create a more supportive and enjoyable environment for all participants
