Year 7 and 8 General Information

By Year 7 & 8, players have developed a solid understanding of the game and transition to 7-a-side netball. The focus shifts to honing foundational netball skills through performance and challenge. To support ongoing development, players should rotate positions and play at least half a game each.

Season Dates: 2 May – 22 August
First 4 weeks are grading
29 August is held aside as a rainday

Game Times: 8:30am, 9:20am and 10:10am

Game Format:

  • Games are made up of four 10 minute quarters
  • 1 minute break between quarters One and Two and Three and Four. 
  • 3 minute break at half time
  • Change ends at the end of each quarter
  • 5 minutes between each round
  • Games are played with a size 5 ball
  • Goals are 3.05m in height.

Grade A and B will be played on the College courts. Grades C and D may be played on the Intermediate courts.

Intersatellite Competition:

The Intersatellite Competition (ISC) iscompromised of the top 3 teams from the Y7 and 8 competition from each of the Wellington satellites. At the end of the Round Robin (beginning of Term 3), the top 3 teams will be approached by NSN and offered spots to play in the ISC. If the team accepts, they will leave the NSN competition to compete at Hataitai courts in the ISC.
